Laser Hair Reduction
We use a laser specific for hair reduction, the Mediostar 810. Laser hair reduction is relatively pain-free and results are seen within 1-2 weeks and ultimate results are seen in approximately 6-8 total treatments for most body regions. Almost any area of the body can be treated.
How does hair reduction work?
A pulse of laser light penetrates the skin and delivers energy which destroys the hair root while sparing the surrounding skin.
What areas can be treated?
All areas of the body can be treated, except around the eyes.
How long does the procedure take?
It depends on the area being treated. It will typically take 15 minutes to treat the underarms and up to an hour for the legs.
Is it painful?
Anesthesia is not required. the only effect felt is a hot and tingling sensation with is easily tolerated.
Is it safe?
Complications are rare. In less than 1% of cases, skin lighting or darkening may occur. It is advisable to wear sunblock during the month following laser treatment.
How many treatments will I require?
Because hair grows in mutiple cycles, several treatments are necessary depending on type of hair and location. Treatments are usually perfomred four to six weeks apart.
Is it permament?
Yes. After each treatment, the hair that re-grows is thinner, lighter and less numerous.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are minimal and are generally limited to a slight redness of the skin which should not persist for more than a few hours.
